At Fitness By Design, we offer a variety of exercise programs for our clients in Greensboro, NC and surrounding areas. Our sport specific training programs are one of our specialty programs to help address the specific needs of athletes.
While sport specific training programs do not practice actual sport specific skills (it would be hard to practice shooting a hockey puck while in our fitness studio!), they do provide fitness training that will enhance athletic performance. Sport specific training programs usually focus on the following areas:
- Goal setting & mental alertness
- Healthy sleep habits
- Injury prevention
- Strength and power
- Mobility, flexibility, and agility
- Endurance (muscular and cardiovascular)
Some programs may not address each of these issues, as each program is tailored to fit the individual needs of the athlete. Some trainers may choose to focus specifically on areas where the athlete is struggling in order to create balance in the body.
In order to address specific needs, your trainer will work with you to establish a baseline with a fitness assessment and discussion with you about your goals. Each session will be focused on movements, exercises, and workout routines that will have the highest application to your sport and increase your effectiveness. Not every part of your training should be sport specific. Your body needs to be balanced in order to properly prevent injury, so our program aims to create a well-rounded athlete.
